Drawing on techniques of expeditionary learning, participants in this workshop will explore approaches to teaching humanities through student-led investigations. We will focus on structuring learning through investigations to elicit students' excellent questions, personal connections, and original responses. We will consider structures for student-to-student teaching through sharing and reflecting on peers' investigations. These approaches consolidate learning through spurring conversations and lasting experiences with family and friends outside the classroom.

Place-based Resources

This word doc is a compilation in progress of sources that I have used in History teaching at EPCC that are relevant to sense of place in El Paso.

This bibliography was generated collaboratively by students in a course that I independently taught in Spring 2021 called Place-based US History. The document includes sources ranging from documentary poetry, local and family histories, mapping, orienting, and more.
